It was three
days of excitement, fun and celebration at the 2nd Annual
Fire Knife Dance Competition in Anaheim, California. For
the competitors,
it was building confidence and courage as a warrior in their
spectacular performances.
The Little Warriors Division wowed the
crowd as they couldn't believe their eyes that these little
kids, 5 to 12 are playing and eating with fire flaming
sharp swords spinning them around their bodies and throwing
them up in the air and catching them behind their backs.
They definitely have
given the other kids out there adrenalin to seek the art of fire
knife dancing as a next thing to the X-Box because it was the
real thing.
Our 1st Place Champion came from San Diego.
Kuinise Lei'ataua Jr. 2nd Place went to Brandon Lavata'i
of American Samoa, and 3rd Place went to Hale Motuapuaka
of Hawaii.
The Junior Division took it a
step up with moves and skills were just amazing. From the
age 13 to 17 years old, these boys and one girl, Janelle Fajeren
who was very close in making the finals. |

1st Place Champion went to
Viavia Tiumalu from Florida. 2nd Place was "JAZ" Castillo
and 3rd Place went to Jerrel Lavata'i. As you get closer
to see how young these kids are, you can't help but be in
awe of their talent.
The senior division was amazingly breath
taking. From the showmanship to the skills on how they
maneuvered. Flames were surrounding their bodies as if
they just walked out of a ball of fire.

The crowd was on their feet at times with
ooohhs and aahhhs when a warrior skillfully made his knife
do what some never thought possible.
They dazzled the crowd with
their quickness and warrior like chants. At the end, the 1st
Place Champion was Harry Sakaio Pupuali'i of Samoa, 2nd Place
went to Micah Kapono Nauru of Hawaii and 3rd went to Brandon
Fue Maneafaiga of Hawaii.
Our premiere sponsor was Paramount Chief & Mrs.
Letuli, Larry and Tali Goeas, Tali’s Polynesia, Kui
Lee Ohana, Muscle Polynesia Magazine
and more. |

There were wonderful craft and food booths
that made the event a successful one to remember. Dancing
groups like World Famous Nonosina, Taupou Samoa, Tausala
Productions from Arizona, singers Leilani Jaster and Quenga
were fabulous with their singing performances. Allen Allen
Jr and Tui Letuli were Host and Emcees for our competition
and entertainment.

The evening ended with the granddaughter
of the Father of the Fire Knife Anuhea Letuli dancing the
Taualuga following the Award Presentation.
